Perched on a setback floor of the landmarked Squibb Building, Hakluyt’s North American headquarters is conceived as a “townhouse in the sky”—a warm, domestic refuge overlooking Central Park. Designed by Modellus Novus for the London-founded strategic advisory firm, the full-floor hosting space, replete with a furnished and planted wraparound terrace, connects discretely to a separate level with private offices. The hosting floor eschews the formal boardroom model for a welcoming and flexible sequence of intimate, carefully-scaled rooms tailored to support an environment of discretion and trust. Within the building’s Art Deco framework and expansive park views, spaces unfold gradually—from a wood-clad vestibule and hidden oxblood corridor to an airy, light-filled central sitting room anchored by a Vermont Verde stone table—establishing an atmosphere that is intentional, cultivated, and quietly confident.
The central sitting room forms the heart of the plan with plushly upholstered furniture arranged in conversational clusters. The sitting room is flanked by richly appointed meeting rooms that can be concealed behind operable walls of fluted glass. A carefully detailed bar, positioned to take advantage of Central Park views, transitions to a fitted larder and intimate 12-seat dining room. Elegant yet understated, the floor embodies Hakluyt’s cosmopolitan ease—sophisticated without opulence, and designed to make every guest feel both comfortable and considered at once.
